Its beginning to look a lot like winter!
We have received 10-15cm of snow at the Griz Inn over the weekend, and the weather is expected to bring another +15cm over the next couple days. I still haven't been out for my pre-season fix, I spent yesterday watching the Roughriders man-handle the Stampeders, but the talk around town is that things are shaping up to be one of the best openings to the ski hill in recent memory. The heavy snow we received at the start of the month has bowled over the alders, and while the freeze melt has created some instabilities in the snowpack, the ice layer at the base of the ski hill will keep things looking fine for opening day. Fernie Alpine Resort has set their tentative opening date for Dec. 5th. If you are jonesing for some early season turns, we still have accomodation available for opening weekend. Call our reservations team to book your stay.
