COVID-19 / Coronavirus Update – March 18, 2020

We understand that COVID-19 is top of mind for travelers to Fernie and guests of the Griz Inn. Here is an update on the actions we are taking at the Griz Inn in regard to Coronavirus / Covid-19.

Griz Inn Operations

Fernie Alpine Resort has announced that they will close for the remainder of the 2019-2020 ski season. This will significantly curtail the number of guests staying at the Griz Inn.  During this time, operating hours at the Griz Inn will be shortened and adjusted accordingly based on daily circumstances and the level of occupancy in the property. This will impact our front desk, housekeeping and maintenance services. The pool and hot-tub area are also closed until further notice.  It is likely that the other operations in the building (Rusty Edge, All-in Skier Service and mountain Body Works) will also close or significantly curtail operations. Please keep in mind that during times our Guest Services desk is closed, our team can still be contacted via telephone and email.

If you are a guest staying with us, we want to also assure you that we continue to take proactive and heightened  cleaning measures to protect against viruses, bacteria, infections, etc. in the wake of COVID-19.  Guestrooms are thoroughly cleaned during and between stays; public spaces are cleaned thoroughly and regularly with heightened emphasis high-touch zones like door handles, elevator buttons, desk counters, and public washrooms to name a few; and back-of-house areas like laundry, dishwasher areas among others have increased their cleaning protocols.  Our properties already adhered to strict protocols but we’ve amplified them further as precautionary measures to ensure the continued safety of our staff and guests.

If you currently have a reservation to stay at the Griz Inn over the next 30 days, our guests services team will be directly reaching out to you to provide additional information on your upcoming stay or if you need to rebook or cancel.  Guests who have booked with us directly can also reach out to us at reservations@grizinn.com or 250-423-9221. Please note that if you have booked your trip through a tour operator or third party booking site, please start with contacting them directly

Monitoring the evolving situation

Griz Inn will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds as additional restrictions may be put into place to help “flatten the curve” of the spread of COVID-19 in Fernie to ensure that our health care system is able to effectively cope with the scope of cases that may arise.  Griz Inn will provide further updates as circumstances arise. In the meantime, stay safe, wash your hands and please reach out to our management team if you have questions or need to talk to us.

Regards,

Griz Inn Management
